Bayonetta’s Western Release Delayed To 2010

Sega has chosen to delay the western release of new action game Bayonetta until next year.

While it will release on October 29 in Japan, Platinum Games' PS3 and Xbox 360 title will now launch in western markets in January 2010.

Bayonetta is an extremely important new IP for Sega and adds a new level of depth to our growing portfolio,” said Mike Hayes, president of Sega West.

“As a result of market analysis we have taken a publishing decision that January 2010 is the optimum release time in the western markets to maximise this exciting new title's potential.”

Bayonetta is one of a number of high profile games to be shifted to 2010 in recent weeks. Take-Two recently opted to delay the release of a number of games – including BioShock 2 – from 2009 to 2010, while Activision similarly delayed the launch of Singularity
