The BBFC has wished PEGI well following the government’s decision to adopt PEGI ratings as the sole classification system for games in the UK.

However, BBFC director David Cooke also insisted that his organisation would have been the more suitable choice.

“The BBFC has always supported PEGI and wished it well, but it continues to believe that it satisfies these requirements better than PEGI,” said Cooke.

“However, it will cooperate fully in the detailed work needed to give effect to the government’s decision. And it must be independent in substance as well as appearance, reaching its decisions and providing information on the basis of its own detailed assessments.”

They put these ratings on games and movies, it does nothing. Every teenage gamer in the UK/US plays games that they shouldn't be playing. 99% of parents get the games for them, so the parents are not bothered. If this could be proved, ratings should be scrapped. It only stops teenagers buying the games, as if say when they go to the cinema. Nothing in the world can stop teenagers from playing games and watching movies. The end.

Cutting their optical nerves would and frankly people shouldn't be watching movies that aren't intended for them and their parents should take responsibility. Just because people do watch movies that aren't intended for them and just because parents don't act responsibly and just because retailers continue to sell these products to underage people doesn't make it right. With the system now being strengthened and clarified they should also come down hard on people who don't follow the rules.

Perhaps they question the legitimacy of these rules? Not only are they useless, they're oppressive.

Yay! PEGI getting more money! Excellent! That's just what we need now.

Honestly, I couldn't care.

I rather have PEGI than the bbfc. Good riddance to them.
