Beatles-Rock Band Announce Coming?

A telling media alert hints that the Fab Four's music is coming to Rock Band in some shape or form.

Edge has received word that tomorrow, an "exclusive agreement to develop a global music project" will be announced by The Beatles' catalog holders, Apple Corps and MTV, owners of Rock Band developer Harmonix.

Nothing in the press alert mentioned games, but it was forwarded by one of our PR contacts for MTV Games and Harmonix.

Apple Corps had been rumored to be in talks with MTV Games and Guitar Hero developer Activision since the middle of this year.

It's possible that Rock Band could simply begin featuring Beatles songs available for download, or it could be a "project" of greater magnitude. Without official confirmation, it's impossible to tell at this point.

If the Rock Band franchise is able to secure Beatles tunes on an exclusive basis, the deal could be at best a reason for people to choose Rock Band over Guitar Hero World Tour, or at worst, a gigantic feather-in-the-cap for MTV Games.

Attending the meeting tomorrow at 10 a.m. Eastern will be Apple Corps CEO Jeff Jones, MTV Networks CEO Judy McGrath and MTV Networks Music/Logo Group president Van Toffler.
