The ceo of Best Buy, America’s largest specialty electronics retailer, has said in a company earning report that today’s economic climate is the most difficult the company has ever faced.

Company chief Brad Anderson has reduced the company’s estimated earnings for 2009, claiming that "Best Buy simply can't adjust fast enough to maintain our earnings momentum for this year."

Best Buy, which was recently voted the second most popular place to buy videogames, in October had seen its year-on-year store sales fall 7.6%. The news may be suggestive to some that, as an indicator of consumer reluctance to buy electronic goods, the videogame market and especially the hardware market may not be as recession-proof as previous statements had suggested.

Following are my experiences in the Melville NY store. Stay away from Best Buy and especially the Melville NY store:
1. What happened to me inside the Melville NY store, was not a matter of misunderstanding the store policy. Frankly they could have charged me a 10% restocking fee, and I would have left satisfied. I have never been treated like I was treated at the Melville NY store by this young woman named Geriann, who I understand no longer works there. Simply because I stated to her “I will never buy anything at this store again”, she told me if I did not like it I could get the F*** out of HER STORE. Frankly I was shocked that she would dare speak to me like this and when I asked her what gave her the right to do this, she said that if customers say ONE BAD THING about her store she has the right to throw them out of the store. Then, she told me I HAD TO SPEAK to the stereo guy about my broken transmitter. I was so shocked by this that I did, and I was escorted to the area, escorted like I could not be trusted. Come to find out that the reason she did this was so she could get this guy to state that I had broken it myself, which I did not. The story that this woman Geriann concocted was amazing, I guess since she knew I was going to call Corporate Customer Service, she had to get a way to cover herself. Since that day, I have never bought anything at a best buy store. I would no longer feel comfortable shopping there. I shut down my credit card, and none of my friends have bought anything there either. From what I have seen on the internet, and from the amount of claims against Best Buy with the consumer protection agency and the better business bureau, I am not alone. Best buy reputation speaks for itself.

Best Buy is one of the worst retailers in the United States in the areas of customer satisfaction, honoring warranties, and false advertising.

Recently, some friends and I had several major problems with our local Best Best retailers, as well as the entire Best Buy corporation.

Initially, we tried to handle things professionally with the management of the Best Buy retailer. Rather than honoring the Warranty of the product that was purchased, the Customer Relations Manager (Brian S) of store 415 in Fort Gratiot would not even listen to what was wrong with the product. As a result, my friend called Best Buy Corporation to file a complaint against him. This actually resulted in a Best Buy employee named Pilar voluntarily filing a complaint against the Customer Relations Manager of store 415--Mr. Brian S.

What's worse is that when my friends entered store 415 the next time, in less than three mintues the Customer Relations Manager walked up to them and asked them to leave the store, saying "I get to decide who shops in 'my' store." When my friends said that they were going to call Best Buy Corporate on him, he laughed and said, "Best Buy Corporate will believe me and my management friends a lot more than they will believe you, even if we tell them boldface lies."

When my friends called Best Buy Corporate, nothing was accomplished, because the General Manager of store 415 (Dave B) was literally telling lies to Best Buy Corporate in order to try and defend the Customer Relations Manager. The General Manager (Dave B) was explaining the situation to Best Buy Corporate as if he was working at the time, but he wasn't! And he was explaining things as if he had watched the security videos of what happened, but he had not done so!

As a result, Best Buy Corporate ended up taking the side of the Best Buy management of Store 415 in Fort Gratiot, Michigan. When another friend talked to the management employees at Best Buy, they arrogantly laughed and said, "We are friends with each other at all times, and we will do whatever it takes to stick up for each other. The idiots at corporate don't know when to believe anybody, so there is no way in hell we are going to let customers push us around just because they bought a shitty product and we don't want to exchange it for them."

All I can say is that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you stay away from Best Buy store 415 if you are going to purchase anything!

In fact, my friends and I became so upset with Best Buy and the entire Best Buy Corporation that we decided NEVER to purchase anything from any Best Buy store ever again, simply because we don't want to give them our business. If customers continue to purchase products from a corporation that doesn't honor warranties or insurance, and allows bullying managers to treat customers with disrespect, it means that sort of activity will be allowed to take place in the future.

When my friend went to file a complaint with the Better Business Burea against Best Buy, we saw that over the last 36 months, over 12,000 (yes, twelve-THOUSAND) complaints had been filed against Best Buy with the Better Business Burea!

In fact, we even found out that multiple states such as Ohio, Florida, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and others had Attorney Generals file legal action against Best Buy for not honoring warranties and deliberately placing "bait-n-switch" forms of false advertisement.

I highly recommend that you STAY AWAY FROM BEST BUY, especially STORE 415 in FORT GRATIOT (Port Huron) Michigan!

We do have to remember that best buy sells a lot more stuff than just video games. I have seen at the best buys here in northwest phoenix, az have significantly increased their focus on gaming as they all have at least 3 large LCDs (I mean large, over 50in) showing off console games. Video games are upfront and center and I think that's due to video games doing so well. Maybe the TV market, or Audio receiver, pc stuff, it could be a lot of things that aren't selling so well (they sell washers and dryers, too!).
