Bethesda releases Dishonored debut trailer

Bethesda Softworks has launched the debut cinematic trailer for Arkane Studios’ visually arresting firstperson stealth action game Dishonored.

Announced last July, the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game will be the first release from the Arx Fatalis developer since Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media acquired the studio in 2010.

The project is being helmed by co-creative directors Raphael Colantonio, who was lead designer on Arx Fatalis, and Deus Ex lead designer Harvey Smith. Its art lead is Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov.

Set in the dystopian steampunk world of Dunwall, it sees players take on the role of royal bodyguard Corvo, who is framed for the murder of the beloved Empress. As the trailer shows, he soon escapes from his cell and sets out on a journey to unravel the conspiracy behind the assassination in a dark tale of magic, murder and revenge.

The game was originally announced with a 2012 release date, but the new trailer gives no indication as to whether that is still Bethesda’s target launch window.
