Game Informer has revealed the new Witcher game on the cover of its latest issue, pitching Wild Hunt as an open world game 30 times larger than The Witcher 2 – and 20 per cent bigger than Skyrim.
The third Witcher game is built on the new REDengine 3 tech unveiled last week. Wild Hunt is set for release in 2014 on all “all high-end platforms available”, suggesting that it could be a next-gen title. Game Informer’s story also states that Wild Hunt’s world is free of loading screens and is a standalone sequel which takes in “non-linear plotlines and difficult decisions.”
Game Informer also has a teaser video, which you can watch below.
UPDATE: An official statement from CD Projekt has just confirmed that this will be the final Witcher game from the studio.
“We believe that we should end the series on a high note. Technology has progressed to where we can finally tell the story the way we want, with the visuals we want, in the world we imagined,” says studio head Adam Badowski. “We believe it’s time for us to look to new worlds and new horizons to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can create.”
