2K Games has announced that BioShock for PlayStation 3 has gone gold.
Set in Rapture, a beautiful, art deco inspired underwater utopia gone wrong, the critically acclaimed shooter will hit European retail on October 17 and North American stores on October 21.
Developed by 2K Marin, 2K Boston, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes, BioShock for PS3 features a Survivor difficulty mode not included in the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game released last August.
Trophy support and the addition of new downloadable content will be made available shortly after launch.
PS3 owners will be able to sample the game via a playable demo to be made available for download over the PlayStation Network this Thursday.
According to Take-Two, BioShock has so far picked up more than 50 Game of the Year awards. The 360 and PC versions each gained Metascores of 96 percent, so hopes are high for the new PS3 release.
