Call Of Duty: Black Ops II is once again number one in the UK all-formats chart, seeing off the challenge of Far Cry 3. Despite Friday’s long-awaited release of Wii U, none of the new Nintendo console’s exclusive games have debuted in the top ten.
The highest Wii U entry is Nintendo Land, at number 11, ahead of New Super Mario Bros U at number 14. Ubisoft survival horror ZombiU debuts at number 17.
It’s in stark contrast to the March 2011 release of 3DS, when three of the handheld’s exclusives – Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Rayman 3D, and Pilotwings Resort – debuted in the top ten. When Wii launched in December 2006, there were two, though sales of The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess will doubtless have been affected by its simultaneous release on GameCube and Wii Play by being bundled with Wii remotes.
When multiformat releases are included, Wii U’s debut looks a little better. Black Ops II, FIFA 13, Assassin’s Creed III, Just Dance 4 and Skylanders Giants are all available for Nintendo’s new console.
