Black Wii To Release In Japan
Nintendo will release a black-coloured Wii console and peripherals in Japan on August 1.
The black console, Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Classic Controller Pro accessories were revealed on the company’s Japanese website.
The platform-holder has also unveiled a red-coloured Nintendo DSi, which will be released in Japan on July 11.
No plans have been announced to release these products outside of Japan.

My black case mod looks exactly the same as that Wii does minus the Wii logo on the front. Only thing I'll be importing are the controllers to match.

Nintendo made rumble controllers, nintendo did analog, then Sony made the Dual Shock
So the pattern isn't anything new.
I'm kinda underwhelmed by motion controls though. Nothing really matches the precision and fun of hitting buttons.
I have to admit it looks pretty slick, but it doesn't change the fact that it's an underpowered console with a gimmicky controller offering, primarily, a bunch of minigames.

I've never said anything of the sort. I am interested in an interface without ANY controller though.

Nintendo is so serious about dominating Japan... Take notice that Monster Hunter 3 tri is being bundled with the black Wii AND the red DSi comes out on the same day as Dragon Quest IX.
Ninty is gonna be printing some serious money in Japan this summer.

If you've got money to burn, send your Wii in to ColorWare and pick from a larger selection of colors. Their service is incredibly overpriced, but somebody's keeping them in business...

True. But it does look pretty sexy! I would have preferred them to announce some games that makes me want to buy a Wii though. Or a HD version so the games don't look complete pap on my HDTV.
