Blizzard is planning a new “Blizzard Accounts” system that will allow players to have a single identity across the company’s entire new games portfolio, according to a report on MTV Multiplayer.
World of Warcraft designer Jeff Kaplan told the site that the game will track achievements across Starcraft II, Diablo III and World of Warcraft, adding points to a player’s “Blizzard Level.”
“It’s basically a gamerscore,” said Kaplan of the system.
Initially the “Blizzard Level” would just contain a player’s World of Warcraft score, the report stated. The system would be expanded as new Blizzard games see release. According to Kaplan, the goal of the system is for players to have an at-a-glance “Blizzard identity” that lets other players see how well gamers perform in each title.
Blizzard Accounts are already being used by players in the Wrath of the Lich King beta. According to the report, these accounts are only temporary and don’t function in the same way as actual Blizzard Accounts.
