Blizzard has administered a mass-suspension of 350,000 StarCraft and Diablo 2 accounts from its system after detecting the users had been using “third-party hacks” on the Battle.net service.
The wash may only be a temporary one, however, as it’s possible for banned users to create a new account after 30 days. If those users are found to play foul again, they will receive a permanent ban.
In a statement Blizzard said "as part of our continued effort to ensure a fair and fun online experience for all Battle.net players, we have expanded our efforts to remove cheaters from StarCraft and Diablo II."
"As a reminder, we reserve the right to close the accounts and ban the CD keys of players who are caught cheating on Battle.net. Cheating ruins the game experience for legitimate players, and we will not tolerate it."
Only two weeks ago, Blizzard banned around 8,000 Warcraft 3 accounts for suspected cheating.
