Bob Bates And Tim Langdell Depart The IGDA

Bob Bates and Tim Langdell have both stepped down from their roles on the International Game Developers Association’s board of directors.

Bates departed his role as IGDA co-chair after more than six years on the board to work on a “dream project.” Bates served in multiple roles during his time on the board, including chair of several committees, secretary, vice chairman and chairman, and during his tenure the non-profit membership organisation grew from 5,000 members to over 13,000.

“There are only a few times in life when the opportunity arises to work on one’s dream project. Such an opportunity is before me now, and pursuing it will mean I cannot give the IGDA the level of attention I feel is required of a board member or chair,” said Bates, whose responsibilities will be assumed by co-chair Tobi Saulnier.

In a separate announcement, the IGDA also confirmed that Tim Langdell had stepped down from its board of directors. Langdell had served on the board since March 2009, and his resignation means that the spare seat on the board will be up for election in early 2010.
