A short sentence on developer Double Fine's website says that its next game is a-ok despite the potential sale of the game's publisher, Sierra.
"Brutal Legend is fine," reads a message posted Tuesday (mouse over the weevil pic on the blog to see) by Double Fine found Tim Schafer. "People have been haranguing me for more information" about the game, he said.
Requests for further comment were left unanswered Tuesday.
Gamers were questioning the fate of Brutal Legend after Activision Blizzard dropped the Vivendi/Sierra-published game from its release list.
Activision Blizzard is currently pondering the sale of Brutal Legend publisher Sierra, a subsidiary of Vivendi Games, as it looks to streamline its business.
Activision Blizzard confirmed with Edge-Online on Tuesday that it would only be publishing Vivendi properties "Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age and Spyro, as well as two new intellectual properties that are currently in development -- Prototype and a second game that has not yet been announced."
Brutal Legend was left off the list, although the game may be picked up by another publisher.
Ghostbusters developer (Wii, PS2, DS versions) Red Fly, whose game is to be published by Sierra, is confident that the game will be picked up by "someone," whether its published by Sierra under a new owner or a new company altogether.
