Capcom Announces Dragon's Dogma And Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Capcom has announced two new titles and demonstrated several other in-development games at its private media event, Captivate, which took place in Miami last week.

Dragon’s Dogma is an open-world action game from the creators of Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4 in which you and two NPC allies must track down and kill a “mysterious dragon”. The NPCs, which fight independently of you, can be developed over time, while combat is affected by everything from the weight of your chosen weapon, to the length of your character’s legs.

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is a reimagining of the Fortune City outbreak which took place in the second game, but with Dead Rising’s Frank West taking center stage. This, of course, means the return of PP points and photography, but the game will also feature a new mission structure, new enemies and the opportunity to access new areas of Fortune City. In addition, the game will benefit from a technical polish, including improved loading times and network performance.

Capcom also showed off new beat ‘em up collaboration Street Fighter X Tekken, confirming the first ten characters with more promised to follow, and demonstrated squad-shooter off-shoot, Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City. The third-person game allows up to four players to take on roles as USS soldiers and destroy all evidence of the original Resident Evil 2-era outbreak. The game is being developed by SOCOM studio, Slant Six Games.

Finally, Capcom showed Asure’s Wrath, an Unreal Engine 3-powered hack-and-slash brawler developed in collaboration with Capcom’s newest partner CyberConnect2, and 3DS title Resident Evil: The Mercenaries.

We'll have previews of all of these games (bar Mercenaries) in issue 228 of Edge next month. In the meantime, you could always grab a copy of issue 227, which is out today.
