Capcom Lifetime Sales Revealed

Capcom has released lifetime sales data for all of its leading franchises, 15 of which have surpassed one million sales.

The Resident Evil franchise had sold 40 million copies across 56 titles as of March 31, 2009.

Mega Man lifetime sales of 28 million are one million ahead of third-placed Street Fighter, although twice as many Mega Man titles have been released over the years.

The Devil May Cry series, which is fourth on the list, has broken ten million sales.

Here are the 15 million selling franchises, as reported by Capcom following the release of its impressive full year financial results.

Monster Hunter (8.5 million)
Onimusha: 7.8 million (12)
Dino Crisis: 4.4 million (13)

Ace Attorney: 3.2 million (12)
Final Fight: 3.2 million (10)
Breath of Fire: 3 million (15)
Lost Planet: 2.7 million (2)
1942: 1.2 million (3)
Commando: 1.2 million (2)
Sengoku Basara: 1.2 million (10)

Capcom also listed its 44 individual bestselling titles. Here are the top ten.

Resident Evil 2 (PlayStation -  4.96 million)
Resident Evil 5 (PS3/360 – 4.4 million)
Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES – 4.1 million)
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PlayStation – 3.5 million)

Monster Hunter Freedom 2G (PSP – 2.55 million)
Street Fighter IV (PS3/360 – 2.5 million
Devil May Cry 4 (PS3/360 – 2.4 million
Dino Crisis (PlayStation – 2.4 million)

Sales of Resident Evil 4 on different platforms were listed separately, but combined sales of the GameCube, PS2 and Wii versions total 5.2 million, theoretically making it Capcom’s second biggest selling title ever.
