Capcom has announced that its net income for the nine months ending December 31, 2010 rose by 294.8 per cent to 6.83 billion yen.
In its latest financial statements published on its website, the Japanese firm also revealed net sales climbed to 70.77 billion yen, an increase of 41.6% on the same period in 2009.
That was largely in part to a good nine months for software, which accounted for 54 billion in net sales. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd sold four million units in its first month on sale in Japan, and Capcom also singled out Dead Rising 2’s performance for praise, saying it had shipped two million copies worldwide. Capcom shipped 1.6 million copies of Super Street Fighter IV, the bulk of which went to Europe and the US.
The publisher’s mobile wing has performed well, too, reaping rewards from distributing games through Japanese mobile social network Mobage-town. Facebook title Smurfs Village has “exceeded [Capcom’s] projection by far.”
Despite the dramatic rise in sales and profit, Capcom is keeping static its most recent profit forecast for the financial year ending March 31. In October it projected profits for the year would be 6.56 billion yen, a 200 per cent increase on the last fiscal year.
