Capcom has shipped two million copies of Street Fighter IV worldwide in line with its global release.

The announcement follows Media Create's calculations that the new release had sold some 86,000 units in its first week in Japan.

Demand for the title is tellingly high; the game's official console arcade sticks from Madcatz, as well as relevant Hori boards, have completely sold out in key regions. Later today Edge will report how well the game has fared during its very brief time at the UK retailers, as GfK Chart Track is set to release its weekly sales data.

Capcom adds in a statement that the series has sold "over 500,000 arcade machines and 27 million console games" since the franchise was born in 1987.

After playing the console game, the added charcaters give the game some flavor. Also, I'm an old school Cammy player and when i found out she's as good as she used to be, I hope the arcade version will get an update adding the concole charcaters. If not, i'll feel no need to learn the console charcaters because I can't use them in arcade matches.

ok, u cant “queue up” the focus attack. But if u…. say jump in the air, twat the opponent with a light kick then u bounce off them……Then u charge the focus asap on-landing. The odds r in ur favour to counter before they unload an armour break or special. Unless of course u r fighting Zangief, Abel or Seth its better to emergency back-dash on-landing because they can grab u in the middle of ur focus = CHEAP ASS.

I have been playing a lot with Chun Li and Cammy who r range specialists with hit & run close combat. U certainly don’t want to take on Zangief, Abel or Seth at sustained close range with those characters. Cammy has an outrageous back-dash & v cheap range moves. Just start whacking the analogue stick backwards as soon as u land or r knocked down NEAR the enemy. U can’t queue it up but u will escape a grapple

Ok I had a go with Abel last night. So Abel is designed to be on the opponent "like a cheap suit”. U basically forward-dash at every opportunity then jockey the opponent with “I saw that” roll and brutal knockdowns. Might have a go at unlocking Dan next. He looks like a complete bastard and I haven't even played him yet.

What an amazing game, takes me right back to my childhood, but in a new shiny polished way.

...and broken way. ^^

I have enjoyed the game actually, there are just a few balancing issues. And if you want any chance unlocking Akuma and Gouken you better read up how it's a little...demanding. Oh yeah, and Zangief completely breaks the single player game btw, (gotta love double lariat).

U need to use landing focus charges + back dash. Then u wont get nailed by Zangief or Abel with his cheap ass throw. The landing focus charge is just like the on-landing charge that u used to spam ur way through Ninja Gaiden2. Just jump, attack, land + charge, J-J Jump, attak, landing charge. & u need to back dash to stand every time he knocks u down see. btw dont use this against Seth u will get battered -just mash and hope.

Exactly. In previous SF games, if someone were to stand over you as you were standing up, you'd have the throw advantage. Not in this game. When you do the landing focus do you have to delay pressing the focus attack or can you can you press it the second you land (or prior, like queing it up?)?

You can backdash to stand? Like roll backward as you stand up ala Tekken?

That's for the tips. Hey, if you want to get through the game on the hardest difficulty (and get the don't lose a match achievement while you're at it) just be Zangief and do his double lariat move (make sure you have the all 3 punch buttons attack mapped to one of the buttons/triggers). You can literally beat the game on the hardest difficulty by just doing his double lariat over and over again. I beat it on the hardest difficulty without losing a round even beat Seth without losing a round just by doing all 3 punch buttons over and over. Check out youtube they'll be videos on it.

Also (didn't mean for this to get so long) if you want to get the beat the game on medium with everyone achievement, just start the arcade mode on medium, 30 second rounds, and 1 round to win, select the character you wish to beat it with. At any point you may die (if you're using a character you don't know/suck at) continue but switch to Zangief (or any character you think you can breeze through it with) do the double lariat exploit, when you get to seth lose on purpose, continue but re-select the character you started with. From there just try to do some damage to Seth and keep away for the remaining time (remember you set it to 30 seconds) let the time run out, rinse and repeat for all the characters. You can also get the super/ultra combo achievements in survival mode level 1 (you start with unlimited super and ultra combo meters and the AI can't block lol, super easy). My tag is O1 (letter O number 1) shoot me an invite if you want.

edit: BTW, you can get all the achievements that are related to beating the game, weather it'd be beating the game on the hardest difficulty, beating on medium, beating it with all the characters, etc with only 1 round wins. It's much quicker that way.

ok you appear know what ur talking about. I got stuck against Zangief with his ridiculous move set for about 1/2 hr last night. What a total bastard. Eventually I beat him with a combination of mashing & optimism, charging up Ultra's or EX moves during knockdowns and with Chun Li's epic back dash ftw. There seems to be a lot of variety in the dash effectiveness of each character. For example Abel has an amazing forward dash for jockying the opponent with CQC ...... yet his back dash is completely crippled. Chun Li can literally ghost backwards which helps a lot when Zangief spams u with unfair moves.

Seth appears to combine all the cheap moves from every character available. I saw him do some sort of spastic EX back dash before he glitch grabbed me from halfway across the screen. Shame on Capcom.

Yeah, Zangief is super annoying as is Abel. He does that half-spin green-handed thigh slap thing and it just destorys you. Or he pile drives you over and over. I'll have to mess with the dashes more, it seems that's an area I haven't played around with enough. But you mentioned focus landing, do you press the button in the air, or just wait till you land? And can you back-dash while on the ground?

You got me cracking up about Seth, that sounds about right when it comes to his moves. I have no problem exploiting my way through the hard mode with Zangief when some of the characters are just super-duper cheap.

You unlock Akuma and Gouken yet?
