Electronic Arts is bringing the upcoming game-based-on-a-poem Dante's Inferno to the animated movie format.
Dante's Inferno is getting the animated movie treatment thanks to a partnership between EA and Starz Media's Film Roman. The "feature-length" film is based on EA's videogame adaptation of the classic literary work, Dante's Inferno.
The videogame, developed by Dead Space house EA Redwood Shores, is due in 2010 on Xbox 360 and PS3, EA said Monday.
Film Roman had previously worked with EA on the animated prequel to the space horror game Dead Space in Dead Space: Downfall. Joe Goyette, who worked on Dead Space: Downfall, is producing the Dante's Inferno animated movie.
Also on board with the project are director Victor Cook, who worked on "The Spectacular Spider-Man and "Hellboy Animated: Blood & Iron," and writer Brandon Auman, who worked on "Iron Man: Armored Adventures."
Starz Media will premiere the animated feature to the international TV community at the MIP-TV Market, March 30-April 3 in Cannes, France.
Anchor Bay has exclusive worldwide home entertainment distribution rights to the movie and Starz will handle international television and domestic syndication sales.
Inferno could've become a really good video game, but seeing as it's EA making it and this just seems like a big commercial deal, I'm guessing it won't. A shame really, would've enjoyed the theme and setting.
The industry bastardises another work of literature. This will be laughably bad.
Hey dont be so mean!
