Darkwatch Wins Awards
Independent short film awards. Awards, nonetheless!
Developer High Moon and the Brain Zoo animation studio, who
collaborated on an early trailer for the game, have collectively
received a pair of platinum Aurora Awards for that effort: "Best of
Show: Use of Animation" and "Best of Show: Entertainment". The Aurora
Awards, by their site’s description, are "an independent film and video
competition for commercials, cable programming, documentaries,
industrial, instructional, and corporate videos," now in its tenth year
of operation. Curiously, the site also lists thirty-eight 2004 platinum
award winners beginning with the letter "A" alone.
High Moon Studios chief creative officer Emmanuel Valdez is excited,
nonetheless. "This trailer was an introduction to our studio’s debut
video game title, which we wanted to quickly establish as a flagship
property. There is no better recognition for the hard work that went
into it than a prestigious award like the Auroras. With ‘Darkwatch’ now
on shelves, and as we pursue extending the property into other forms of
entertainment, we still find ourselves using this trailer to introduce
the original universe we’ve created."
Brain Zoo Studios president and CEO Mohammad Davoudian describes the
collaboration as "ideal", saying "From the beginning, they understood
exactly what it was going to take to push the limits of what the
industry has been used to seeing."
