Raspberry Pi Foundation and Frontier Developments founder David Braben has been confirmed as a speaker for the new Develop Visionaries track at this year's Develop conference, which takes place in Brighton from July 10 to 12.
Braben's session will be the first time the creator of Elite has presented Raspberry Pi, the budget $25 computer designed to inspire a new generation of coders, to the development community.
Titled Raspberry Pi – The Story So Far, the talk will examine the success of the device – which launched in February and immediately sold out – to date, what the hardware is capable of and what coders have achieved so far.
Attendees will also be given a sneak preview where Raspberry Pi will head next.
“We’re very excited to announce David Braben as our first Develop Visionaries speaker,” says Andy Lane, managing director of Develop organiser Tandem Events.
“From social games and mobile apps to motion-controlled consoles and virtual goods sold in virtual worlds – all the big business trends in games began years ago with a bright idea from the fringe.
"Through Develop Visionaries, we're dedicated to finding the kind of people who have these sorts of ideas, and sharing their ideas with Develop’s delegates.”
Today is the last day you can take advantage of Super Early Bird rates for the conference, which offer up to £160 off the price of a ticket. Visit the Develop Conference website's registration page for more information.
