Quantic Dream CEO and founder David Cage is to deliver a keynote speech at next month’s 2009 Game Developers Conference Europe.

Cage's address, titled Writing Interactive Narrative For A Mature Audience, will focus on why mature games are necessary, what difficulties developers face in creating narrative-driven adult games, and possible solutions and techniques in interactive storytelling.

Cage’s Paris, France-based studio previously developed adventure games Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America), and is currently at work on PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain.

"With the game audience maturing, we feel it's important to share visions and ideas to define how our industry should now evolve,” said Cage. “I am convinced more than ever that the most important next gen feature is emotion. How to trigger more complex emotions is our biggest challenge in the coming years."

GDC Europe’s keynote line-up will also feature a presentation on the future of gaming graphics from Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli and an address from Remedy MD Matias Myllyrinne on creating new intellectual properties.

The event will take place from August 17-19 at the Cologne Congress East Center in Germany in conjunction with Gamescom.
