DC Universe Online revenue up 700 per cent
DC Universe Online continues to reap dividends from its recent switch to free-to-play, Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley has revealed.
Earlier this month, Smedley said player numbers rose 1000 per cent in the week following SOE's move into free-to-play, and he has since confirmed on Twitter that daily revenue has risen by 700 per cent.
The number of players is increasing by six per cent every single day, and there's signs of all-important player retention, too, with 85 per cent of daily logins coming from returning players.
Perhaps the most promising statistic is that the lion's share of revenue – 53 per cent – is coming from PlayStation 3 players, proving there's a market for free-to-play games on consoles, with a high rate of monetisation.
