THQ has confirmed that the upcoming PS3 version of Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon has been cancelled due to "development issues", reports Shacknews. The game will now be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Speculation regarding the fate of the PS3 version bred after the game’s most recent trailer only referenced the 360 version of the game.

The Path of Furon will be developer Sandblast Games’ final work, scheduled for release in America from December 1. The news follows THQ’s decision to dissolve a string of development arms such as Helixe, Locomotive Games and Paradigm, due to financial difficulties which were brought to light as the firm announced a net loss of $115.3 million in its Q2 earnings release.

This is not the first time a THQ-published game has found friction with Sony hardware. Speaking to Gamespot last year, Kaos Studios’ producer Joe Halper suggested that the "the Unreal Engine has some challenges with the PS3”, before the development team cancelled the PS3 version of Frontlines: Fuel of War in January.

Anyone know slaes figures of the previous 2 roughly? If they sold big, then this is a definite blow ot teh system. If they didn't sell much at all, then I doubt anyone is losing sleep over it.

Normally I'd be laughing at Sony for losing another title to MS, but I have to agree with most of you that its not really a big deal. Smaller games like that (Fatal Inertia is another one that comes to mind, although that started as a PS3 exclusive) I think tend to come out on the 360 because the dev cost is probably less and the chance of profit higher due to the larger installed base of the 360.

Rider, funny comment, but probably a little too racy for these forums. Agreed though.

Having played the original game and being a PS3 owner, i don't think i'm alone here when i say: PlayStation owners need Destroy All Humans like they need George Michael's cock in their arse. i.e. Nobody wants it!

Well, I'm speechless. Before they will inevitably delete your comment I'd like to point out that George Michael is quite sexy (even if I'm not gay). How could you say something like this?

This game definitely isn't a loss (unless it unexpectedly and unlikely ends up being one of those must have games).

It'll be interesting to see if this is the beginning of a trend in light of the lack of credit/financing due to the economic conditions and the install base gap (which is expected to grow with the massive price difference). Or this could very well be the case of a struggling publisher cutting costs and not take the risk of the game tanking on two platforms. If it's a successful game, there will be a PS3 version down the road no doubt about that.

I'm sure a tired series written by a bunch of people about to be fired will be an amazing game.

I think it's interesting the way that each time Sony loses an exclusive game, certain people say "This is a generation without third-party exclusive game because everything is multi-platform."

But the fact is, the Xbox 360 continues to receive game after game after game from third-party developers as an exclusive product. Often, this is because of development problems associated with the Playstation 3.

Destroy All Humans is a great game series. This game series is on the Xbox Originals on the Xbox 360 for a reason. Sony's inability to keep great games like this is the reason why the Playstation 3 is suh a huge failure.

not really a big deal for sony...

Could these "development issues" be signs of the global recession effecting the videogame industry?

Well, that's one exclusive the PS3 can do without I guess...
