The UK’s Develop conference has expanded with the announcement of a one day event to be held at Liverpool's Arena and Conference Centre on November 5.

The announcement comes on the back of the fourth Develop conference in Brighton earlier this month, which was attended by over a thousand development professionals and featured a panel discussion chaired by Edge Online editor Alex Wiltshire on the close relationship between architecture and videogames.

Develop in Liverpool is being designed to meet the demands of the game community based in the north of England, with three tracks and multiple networking sessions. Liverpool plays host to a number of leading developers, including Bizarre Creations and Sony Computer Entertainment Studio Liverpool, and 1,500 games industry employees in total.

“With such an active and vibrant development community north of Birmingham it just makes sense to take the Develop conference to Liverpool,” said event director Andy Lane. “We want as many developers as possible to experience the passion and energy that we saw in Brighton. Develop in Liverpool is at the heart of a region that has long history of development excellence, so we’re confident this will be a day fizzing with ideas and insights.”

Liverpool councillors recently unveiled a proposal for the creation of a £5 million National Games Academy in the city.

Develop in Liverpool will take place alongside Software City, which is organised by Merseyside ICT.
