Global Star Software has announced that Dora the Explorer's first
journeys on PS2 and Gamecube will be exclusively available at Toys "R"
Us.
The first title in the console line up is Dora The
Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet. The Dora franchise has existed
on PC and GBA for several years but the transition to
consoles only makes sense this late in the cycle.
"We're
excited to partner with both Nickelodeon and Toys "R" Us in this
special product launch," said Steven Lux, VP Publishing of Global Star.
"This is Dora's debut on the current-generation consoles and Toys "R"
Us is creating a world-class merchandising campaign to support it."
"We
are delighted that Global Star Software is bringing Dora the Explorer,
our number one pre-school franchise, to the ever growing console
audience," said Stacey Lane, Senior Director, Interactive &
Electronics, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products. "Parents and
gamers alike will be sure to enjoy exploring the 3-D universe found in
Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet."
"Dora
the Explorer has a huge fan base among Toys "R" Us customers," said
Lucky Evani, Buyer, Toys "R" Us. "We are thrilled to be the exclusive
retailer for this interactive Dora video game and expect that it will
be on a lot of kids' wish lists this holiday season."
The title was developed by Monkey Bar games and will have an SRP of $29.99.
