Dragon Quest V, the DS remake of the Japanese Super Famicom and PS2 classic, is now enjoying its second week at the top of the Japanese sales charts. The game sold 190,000 copies for the week ending July 27, bringing its lifetime total to 834,000 in just two weeks of release.

The number two game on the chart, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 15 for the PS2, sold 84,000 copies in its first week on retail shelves. Versions of this game appear in western markets under the MLB Power Pros brand. Last week's second best-selling game, Gundam Battle Universe, descended to third place.

Many new games took the lower entries of the top ten, including SIREN: New Translation (released in western markets as the downloadable game SIREN: Blood Curse), Wario Land: Shake It!, and Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki the 3rd. Eiyuu Densetsu is branded as Legend of Heroes in western markets.

Amazing how much the remakes and reissues can continue to sell, isn't it? I made a fun chart showing the success of each main-line title in the series. It shows the stunning growth of the series over time:
