Developer A-steroids has changed the name of its new iPhone game to help allow its inclusion onto Apple’s iPhone App Store. The game, which was previously known as Drug Lords, has been given the far more ambiguous title of Underworld.

The news sets a precedent for Apple’s game approval process, where the parameters of lenience on Apple’s part appear to be more restrictive than previously thought. Drug Lords – or, Underworld – is a location-based MMO which takes the player through the daily duties of drug trafficking.  The game uses the iPhone’s GPS features to turn your surroundings into a gameworld where deals can be negotiated.

What is not known is if the name change was compulsory, or if A-steroids made a conscious decision to change the name regardless of Apple’s approval process. Edge is pursuing Apple to find out.

UPDATE: Apple has declined to comment on the matter. The company tells Edge that it "does not discuss its internal strategies as we prefer to focus on our products and services."
