DS Dragon Quest V Soars Above Competition in Japanese Chart

Square Enix’s Dragon Quest V for DS, a remake of the Super NES and PS2 RPG, easily outsold the rest of top ten combined to debut at No1 in the Japanese software chart for the week ended July 20.

Gundam Battle Universe for PSP was new at No2 with a respectable 138,000 units sold, followed by the previous week's bestseller, Persona 4 for PS2.

New PS3 title Tears to Tiara: Kakan no Daichi debuted at No4, while Wii titles Wii Fit and Mario Kart charted in fifth and sixth respectively.

Recent chart toppers Daigasso! Band Brothers DX and Derby Stallion, both for DS, ranked seventh and eighth, while Monster Hunter Portable 2G and Densetsu no Stafi: Taiketsu! Dire Kaizokudan rounded off the top ten.

Possible system seller, no? PSP has done very well moving systems with tons of very Japanese games to drive it.
