The DSi and Wii dominated Japanese hardware sales during the week ended August 16, with titles for the two platforms also taking seven of the top ten places on the software chart.
DSi sales were up nearly 20,000 units week-on-week as combined DSi and DS sales hit 95,857. Wii sales were flat at 48,000 units, with PSP around 8,000 sales behind. Xbox 360 sales rose by 4,000 units to clear 9,000, which was more than enough to help the console place comfortably ahead of PS3 and PS2 in the rankings.

In the software chart Dragon Quest IX leapt two places to regain the top spot. Tomodachi Collection and Wii Sports Resort both moved up two places to take second and third respectively, the latter title passing the three million domestic sales mark in the process. Monster Hunter 3 fell from second to fourth, while SD Gundam G Generation Wars dropped four places to fifth.
