Sony has announced the long-rumoured premium version of its PlayStation Network service.
Dubbed PlayStation Plus, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton said it will provide users with options “to expand and enhance their gaming experience”.
These options will include early access to demos and priority invitations to game betas, exclusive digital content, themes, minis and PSN game discounts, plus auto-downloads that push demos and patches. Content is owned for the duration of a user’s subscription.
Available from later this month, a year’s subscription will cost $49.99 and a three month one $17.99.
Existing features like online gaming will remain free of charge. We’ll add more details as they come in.
