Following rumous that the Virgin brand was going to relaunch in the online gaming sector, Sir Richard Branson yesterday officially unveiled Virgin Gaming, a website allowing console gamers to organise competitive matches and take part in official Virgin Gaming tournaments.
“Gamers want something new, something interactive and something fun. Virgin Gaming is just that – access to play the best games in super competitive tournaments with anyone in the world and win the biggest prizes and the most rewards,” said Branson, who had arrived at E3 brandishing $1-million cash in hand - Virgin Gaming plans to give away tournament payouts equalling that figure this year.
Virgin Gaming will allow players to upload their Xbox Live gamertags and PSN IDs, organise matches and participate in tournaments, the result of which will be verified through the site.
