During his talk at the DICE Summit on Thursday, EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed that his company would be partnering with game designer American McGee (pictured) to revisit the Alice universe.
Riccitiello said the new Alice game will release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. He did not offer a release date for the title.
According to Spicy Horse's website, the game is in pre-production, and currently titled, "The Return of American McGee's Alice". The site also said the game "won't be completed for some time."
The original American McGee's Alice released in 2000, and was published by EA for PC and Mac. The game was a decidedly darker, more adult take on the Alice in Wonderland tale, and received critical acclaim, effectively putting McGee on the industry's radar.
McGee currently has an episodic series of games available on distribution service GameTap, called American McGee's Grimm, developed by his China-based Spicy Horse studio, which is working on the new Alice game.
The agreement is possible through a partnership with EA Partners, which arranges publishing deals with external developers. Epic Games, Grasshopper Manufacture, Harmonix and id Software are some of the companies that EA Partners has signed with in recent times.
EA Partners SVP David DeMartini said in a statement, "EA Partners is ready to help [McGee] bring his innovative vision for the franchise to even darker, more exciting places."
