EA Announces FIFA World Cup Game

Following the success of FIFA 10, EA has unveiled an official and exclusively licensed title for the upcoming football World Cup.

Following the success of last year’s FIFA 10, EA has announced an official and exclusively licensed title for the upcoming football World Cup.

Releasing for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP and mobile in April 2010 ahead of the real tournament this summer, EA Sports 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will feature all 199 national teams that took part in qualification, the ten official stadiums to be used in the competition, plus stadiums from each qualifying region.

“… Gameplay innovations capture the journey from qualification to the final tournament with home and away strategies for every nation, situational tactics in-game, and altitude effects that fatigue players faster and even impact the flight of the ball”, said EA.

Development of the title is being handled by EA Canada, which was also responsible for last year’s FIFA 10. EA dubbed that game “the fastest-selling sports videogame” ever after it moved 1.7 million units in Europe in its first week of availability.

It had sold more than 4.5 million copies worldwide as of December 1, 2009 and was the UK’s second bestselling title of last year, leading EA to suggest recently that it now commands “75 per cent of the football space”.
