EA exec switches to Funzio
Industry veteran Jamil Moledina has left Electronic Arts and joined social gaming developer Funzio.
Moledina, who in addition to being director of business development at EA Partners was also executive director of the Game Developers Conference, is now Funzio's vice president of business development.
"From what I've seen, the future of games is about creating fun social action games for play on any device, any platform, anywhere," Moledina said. "Funzio is one of very few companies whose vision and execution are delivering on that goal, and I'm excited to join a team inventing that future."
Funzio, which develops social games for mobile, Facebook and Google+, is based in San Francisco and secured $20 million in series A funding in May. It currently only has one game on Facebook, Crime City, which currently has 1.6 million active users.
It seems like an odd move for Moledina given that EA has been gaining ground on Facebook of late since the launch of The Sims Social, currently the second-most popular game on the site with 64.7 million monthly users.
