Electronic Arts has launched the T-Club, an "elite Tetris fan club", alongside a new version of Alexey Pajitnov's classic puzzler which hits the iOS App Store today.
This latest version of Tetris sports touch controls, new game modes, and regularly delivered challenges through the Tetris Log. It also tracks players' total lines cleared to calculate their Tetris Rank.
For $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year, the T-Club offers members "access to exclusive discounts and content, premium challenges, and a booster to progress their Tetris Rank," EA said in a statement.
All of which sounds like EA is asking a lot for not very much in return, but given that Tetris has notched up over 132 million paid downloads on mobile devices, perhaps the publisher is onto something. Tetris Log and Tetris Rank are powered by Origin, too, further expanding the reach of EA's new distribution platform.
