EA: Medal Of Honor got scores “lower than it deserves”, being taken “out of rotation”
The poor sales performance of Medal Of Honor: Warfighter is termed one of EA’s biggest disappointments in its latest financials. EA COO Peter Moore says that Warfighter got review scores “lower than it deserved” and it will now be taken “out of rotation”.
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said sales of Medal Of Honor were a “major challenge” in EA’s last quarter, stating that it “performed well below our expectations.”
COO Peter Moore explained further: “Medal of Honor was an obvious miss. The game was solid but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers. Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation, and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings.”
We awarded Medal Of Honor: Warfighter 3/10 in October 2012. EA also revealed a flurry of facts and figures and confirmed that next-gen FIFA and Battlefield titles were in the works as part of its financial results.
