“Edge is the most trusted, admired brand in game journalism. It’s right that this single brand represents our industry, globally, at the highest level, offering a forum for the most senior business and creative people in our business.”

Edge, the world’s premier brand in games journalism, has launched a new online destination dedicated to offering the best game industry news coverage and a peerless platform for game industry opinion.

Future US announced today that Edge-Online (www.edge-online.com) replaces sister site Next Generation (formerly www.next-gen.biz) as the game industry’s premier game industry news and analysis outlet. All Next-Gen’s content and staff are now part of Edge-Online, which launches Tuesday July 15.

Edge is the world’s most prestigious brand in videogame journalism. For 15 years, Edge has been the favored magazine of videogame professionals around the world, winning numerous awards.

Today’s launch of Edge-Online establishes Edge as the global network for game industry professionals. Previously known as Next-Gen, the new site offers game industry breaking news, detailed research and senior game industry analysis.

It also features first-person commentary from senior game industry figures. Game industry professionals are able to interact and communicate with one another directly, and to share their news and views with opinion-formers, analysts and the world’s leading game industry journalists. Edge-Online is written by the game industry, for the game industry.

Edge-Online replaces Next-Gen which launched in 2005 and, in 2008, became the market-leading game business website.

Dan Morris, publisher of Edge-Online, said, “Edge is the most trusted, admired brand in game journalism. It’s right that this single brand represents our industry, globally, at the highest level, offering a forum for the most senior business and creative people in our business.”

I thinks it's a great decision. I've been a subscriber to Next Gen's excellent daily newsletter for years now and Edge is the only industry mag that I bother subscribing to anymore. I'm a fan of both publications, but I think that Edge has a stronger brand and unparalleled graphic design/layout. So, I think that the decision to choose Edge as the brand (and hopefully the overall aesthetic) for both is wise. Kudos!

Very nice initiative. I have followed Edge since ohh, the issue with "Heart of Darkness"-frontpage, back in the mid 90´s and I have always loved the professionalism and the quaility of the magazine. Nice to see that you strengthen your presence on the internet as well!

Looking forward to see the development of this!
(I agree with Venom, please keep the same high level of language as you always have)

Cheers,

Very nice!
Ive been a big fan of EDGE since launch and also liked Next-Gen's mature non-fanboy writing. Great to see the two consolidated. Keep the industry insiders talking here.
Please keep the spelling in British/International English of both mag and website!
Good Luck!
