Gimme5games said Monday that general manager Matt Spall repurchased the rights to Gimme5games.com, DifferenceGames.com and other games and properties from Eidos.
Eidos acquired Gimme5games as part of its 2007 purchase of mobile and casual game developer Morpheme. Gimme5games will now function as an independent.
Spall stated, "This is the best route for all parties involved. We understand we're not the focus of Eidos' business right now, but we passionately believe in our business and this way the team here are free to explore new and exciting business opportunities."
The move comes as Eidos continues talks with unnamed suitors interested in acquiring the U.K.-based publisher. Eidos has taken measures to cut costs as of late, recently conducting layoffs at Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics and closing down its Rockpool studio.
