Eidos confirmed Thursday that it is in talks with an unnamed suitor.

In a statement, the company said, "The Board can announce that it has received a preliminary approach which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the Company.

"Eidos emphasises that discussions are at a very early stage and that there can be no assurance that an offer will be forthcoming."

Eidos has been the subject of various acquisition rumors. Recently, rumors spread that Square-Enix was eyeing the company, while 20 percent stakeholder Warner Bros. has also been named as a possible suitor. EA and Ubisoft have also been rumored to have interest in the Tomb Raider house.
