The decision was made by its membership today at the trade body’s Extraordinary General Meeting.
“The ELSPA Board proposed the change to the organisation’s name to reflect the evolving and expanding nature of the industry, which the association exists to represent, and to encompass the new areas of activity that will be undertaken,” the group explained in a statement.
The publisher’s group will phase out the ELSPA name and hopes to be fully re-branded before the summer. The group hopes to develop and new image and mission that it can then unveil. In the meantime the organisation will continue to operate as ELSPA.
ELSPA has been the primary trade body for major videogames publishers in the UK since it was founded in 1989.
