Emergent Game Technologies has officially confirmed the appointment of Scott Johnson to the position of chief executive officer.
Johnson has held the position since late last year and led the company to record results through the close of 2009. In February, Emergent said its annual revenues and profits were up 35 per cent and 58 per cent respectively.
“Over the past 12 months the video game industry has seen a dramatic shift in the way it conducts business,” said Johnson. “The era of $15 million plus titles is in our rear-view mirror and changing focus to the new way business is done will be challenging for our competition.
“As developers and publishers look to new business models, Emergent is out front in two proven ways,” he added. “First, our flexible and agile technology serves the growing free-to-play and social MMO, digital distribution and other expanding categories, and second, our company culture is dedicated to working closely with independent game developers to quickly put their best ideas on screen.”
Johnson began his career in finance before spending seven years in various executive positions with Vivendi. He also co-founded mobile developer Mobility Entertainment
