Epic Opens Japanese Subsidiary

New office provides direct Unreal Engine 3 licensing and technical support for developers.

Epic Games has opened a Japanese subsidiary to provide direct Unreal Engine 3 licensing and technical support for the company’s local partners.

The new Tokyo office, which will have an official launch event on April 15, adds to Epic’s existing operations in the States, Poland, Korea and China.

Taka Kawasaki, territory manager of Epic Games Japan, will discuss the company’s vision for the new office, while Epic CEO Tim Sweeney and vice president Jay Wilbur will also be on hand to offer remarks.

Special guests will include Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda, who is currently working on a horror action game with EA using Unreal Engine 3.
