The Entertainment Software Association, the trade body representing the US games industry, spent $1.2 million during the second quarter lobbying on media regulation, copyright enforcement and other issues.
During the April-June quarter the group also lobbied on piracy, videogame content and sales regulation, and immigration.
Agencies lobbied included the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communications Commission and the FBI, according to an Associated Press report.
The ESA’s lobbying spend has been rising over the past few years. 2006 lobbying expenses were $1.2 million, a figure matched in Q2 of 2009 alone. 2007 lobbying expenses totalled $1.4 million, while the figure swelled to almost $4.3 million in 2008.
