Australia’s classification authority has refused to grant Bethesda’s Fallout 3 a rating, effectively banning the game from sale in the country.

 

According to The Office of Film and Literature Classification’s website, Fallout 3 was refused a rating on July 4. No further details regarding the body’s ruling were given, although the game is known to portray drug use and addiction.

The Australian games classification system is notoriously strict – no rating higher than 15+ exists for games, despite the fact that movies can receive 18+ ratings.

Earlier this week D3Publisher’s Dark Sector was finally cleared for release in Australia after a series of cuts enabled the PS3 and Xbox 360 game to secure a 15+ rating.
