EA Chicago, the house behind Fight Night and Def Jam: Icon, is heading up development of a new Marvel Comics-based superhero franchise for next-gen consoles.
Perhaps the most famous Marvel-based fighting franchise is the 2D team-based Marvel vs. Capcom, which saw two entries.
But EA hyped up its project in a statement, saying, it plans to “deliver an authentic Super Hero fighting experience that has been promised for years but never truly been delivered.”
The game is slated to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008.
EA made the announcement in conjunction with this week’s Comic-Com in San Diego.
Little else is known about the game at this point, but EA said it will unveil the new title on Spike TV’s Game Head on Friday, August 31 at 1 a.m. ET/PT.
