EA’s Fight Night Round 4 has debuted atop the UK chart, in the process becoming the first boxing title to reach the all formats number one position.

‘It’s great to see Fight Night Round 4 receive the accolades it deserves and we’re delighted to be the first boxing title to top the UK all formats chart," Luke Cousens, EA Sports senior product manager, told us. "It’s been our strongest launch for a Fight Night title and this weekend’s success is testimony to the quality of the game and the level of anticipation around its release... We are extremely proud of the studio’s achievements."

Last week’s chart top three - Prototype, The Sims 3 and Wii Fit - each fell one place, while UFC 2009: Undisputed jumped two spots to round off the top five.

Activision’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen debuted at number six, while Call Of Duty: World At War placed seventh, ahead of Virtua Tennis 2009, EA Sports Active and Ghostbusters, which fell six places in its second week on the chart.

Plenty of new releases failed to crack the top ten, according to GfK Chart-Track. Codemasters’ Overlord II and Activision Blizzard’s Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits took 17 and 18 respectively, while the week’s bestselling PSP title, Capcom’s Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite, charted at 25. Koei’s Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires placed at 31, EA’s Spore: Galactic Adventures at 37 and Atari’s Tales of Vesperia at 38.
