Sony has announced the PlayStation 3 exclusive release of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV Online.

A brief trailer for the game, which is due for release in 2010 on PS3 only, was shown at Sony's E3 press conference.

FFXI was a beautiful, but punishing game. The patches and expansions they've done have all made the game more palatable, but ultimately too late. Since it's the FFXI team making FFXIV, I am optimistic they'll fix all their mistakes.

I hate to come off as a skeptic, but FF14 is coming out the same year as FF13? That's interesting. And what a blow to MS. I wonder if FF14 is going to go the MMO route then?

I think this was still it's a pretty big announcement for Sony. I don't believe MS has any MMO lined up (since their Marvel game was cut).

I think modern mmo's are mixing in genre's , like MAG on PS3 or Huxley for X360.

I think I heard somethin' about the Conan MMo coming to x360 - but I'm really not sure.
They're an aqcuired taste I suppose , I steer well clear of them myself!!!
