Hansel & Gretelbot, the first community-made level pack for LittleBigPlanet 2, is now available to play. Developer Media Molecule challenged 12 community members to create a full game experience using the title’s Create mode, and the result is nine levels which include cutscenes, original music and even voice-acting.
The pack is entirely free and requires no download – if you use Media Molecule’s community portal LBP.me, you can queue up level one here. Media Molecule hopes that this will be the first of many such ambitious applications of its toolset.
"I asked a few creators that had helped us out over the course of the year if they might be interested, and they put together a full team of people," says community manager James ‘Spaff’ Spafford on community website LittleBigLand. "It was an experiment, one which has been very interesting, very fruitful, and should hopefully pave the way for doing more things like this in the future! Of course I’m also hopeful that it will demonstrate to the community that this sort of thing is possible, and inspire people to see what they can build if they work together!"
Media Molecule has also released an update for the game which addresses a few glitches found in the first build.
