Fox News Channel claims it has offered EA the chance to appear on the station to discuss its controversial coverage of Xbox 360 RPG Mass Effect, which EA dubbed as ‘reckless’.

Following its coverage of the game, in which Mass Effect was criticized for its depictions of “full digital nudity and sex”, amongst other things, Fox News received a letter from Jeff Brown, EA’s vice president of communications, asking that it “set the record straight” and apologize for its error-laden report.

The MTV Multiplayer blog now reports that Fox News has responded by inviting EA, the parent company of Mass Effect developer BioWare, onto the show to discuss the matter.

“Fox News Channel has extended several invitations to EA through a company representative to appear on ‘Live Desk With Martha MacCallum’ to discuss Mass Effect and the segment which aired on Monday. We have received no response,” read a statement from Fox News Channel.

As reported on Thursday, the decision by author Cooper Lawrence to appear on the Fox News report and bash Mass Effect has since led to numerous irate internet users posting negative reviews of her book, The Cult of Perfection: Making Peace with Your Inner Overachiever, on

“It has full on sex and nudity, explicitly describes sexual situations, and is the posterchild of what is wrong with books today. Of course I never read a single page of this book, but that shouldn’t matter,” read one review.
