Acclaimed game designer Fumito Ueda will be attending the 2009 Game Developers Conference this March in San Francisco.

According to the official website of the event, Ueda will take part in a 60 minute panel discussion entitled "Today and Tomorrow, East and West Game Design". The nature of this discussion leaves little room for the possibility that the man behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will talk openly about his new project in much detail, if at all.

Ueda will be joined by Grasshopper's Goichi Suda "51", Bethesda's Emil Pagliarulo, as well as 8-4 Ltd executive director Mark MacDonald for the discussion. GDC's webpage states the panel will address three key issues: What are the most important recent trends in modern game design, where are games headed in the next few years, and how this all ties in to Japanese and Western game design.

Ueda has been typically silent on his team's successor to the 2005 cult classic Shadow of the Colossus, though it is known that work is currently underway on the project.
